Data Notes
Our stats are sourced from EIHL game tracking data. This page documents known differences between our data and eliteleague.co.uk, and explains how we compute certain statistics.
Source Where our data comes from
All statistics are sourced from the EIHL's game tracking system, which records play-by-play data during matches. Season-level stats (GP, goals, assists, etc.) come from season summary endpoints. Per-game stats (TOI breakdowns, individual game saves/GA) come from individual match endpoints.
Method How we calculate goalie stats
GAA (Goals Against Average) = (Total Goals Against × 3600) ÷ Total Time On Ice (seconds). This gives goals per 60 minutes of play.
SV% (Save Percentage) = Total Saves ÷ (Total Saves + Total Goals Against) × 100.
Both are computed from the sum of per-game values rather than the season summary, ensuring mid-game goalie changes are properly reflected in TOI.
Discrepancy Goalie goals against
We have found cases where the per-game tracking data records goals against a goalie that the league website does not.
This affects the season totals: our data shows Bowns with 47 GA for 2025-26, the league website shows 45 GA. This feeds through to GAA (1.92 vs 1.88) and SV% (93.14% vs 93.41%).
Discrepancy Goalie time on ice
We have found cases where the per-game tracking data records a different TOI for a goalie than the league website.
This contributes approximately 20 minutes of additional TOI to the season total, slightly lowering the computed GAA.
Coverage Shot map data
Shot coordinates come from the tracking system's visualisation feed. Each shot includes x/y coordinates, the result (goal, saved, missed, or blocked), and the shooting player. Shot data is available for most matches but may be missing for some older or rescheduled games.
Coverage Historical data
Per-game player and goalie stats are available from the 2021-22 season onwards. Season summary stats and shot data coverage may vary by season. The Challenge Cup and Playoffs use the same data sources as the regular season.
Coverage COVID-affected seasons
The 2019-20 season was cut short in March 2020 due to COVID-19. The regular season completed 239 of the scheduled 270 matches (last game 8 Mar 2020). No playoffs took place.
The 2020-21 season was replaced by the Elite Series, a shortened tournament held April–May 2021 with four teams: Coventry Blaze, Manchester Storm, Nottingham Panthers, and Sheffield Steelers. Only 30 matches were played. Six teams did not participate.
Full 10-team seasons resumed in 2021-22.
